Garbage, Recycling, and Yard Waste

The City of Dundas garbage pickup is every Thursday. Carts should be placed curbside by 7:00 a.m. Recycling is collected every other Thursday on GOLD weeks. (click here for the calendar)


Garbage carts sizes available and costs are:

  • 35 Gallon Cart $12.80 monthly plus garbage tax $1.25 = $14.05
  • 65 Gallon Cart $16.07 monthly plus garbage tax $1.57 = $17.64
  • 95 Gallon Cart $19.70 monthly plus garbage tax $1.92 = $21.62

Residential Holiday Schedule

DSI staff works all holidays except New Year's, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

If any of the above holidays fall on or before the City’s pickup day, service will be delayed one day after (Friday).

BULK ITEMS Call Dick’s Sanitation (DSI) at 952-469-4161 for the pickup of bulk items, furniture, electronics, and appliances. 

Yard Waste Program

Dick's Sanitation (DSI) will pick up paper compostable bags on Thursdays in the Spring and Fall. Residents must call DSI 952-469-5161 to schedule this service and purchase the compostable bags ($3.00 per bag). Click here for more details about DSI's yard waste services.

Yard waste may also be transported to the Rice County Landfill and Recycling Center located on Hwy 3 and County Rd 75 between Dundas and Faribault. Call 507-332-6833 for hours and directions.

 

To dispose of Household Hazardous Waste, contact Rice County Recycling/Landfill at 507-332-6833. 
Hours:   
Monday thru Friday: 7:30 am to 3:30 pm
Saturday: 7:30 am to 11:30 am (November – March: 2nd Saturday) & (April - October: 2nd and 4th Saturday)
An attendant is available on-site for assistance. This service is provided free of charge for City and County residents.

Leaves, grass clippings, and garden residue are accepted in the compost area. Twigs, branches, and brushes are accepted in designated brush piles. Plastic bags or other containers cannot be left at the site. Wood chips are available for landscaping.


The City and Dick’s Sanitation offer an annual “Clean Up Day” for residents to bring large items
(no garbage or paint) for disposal. Some costs may occur on specific types of items.
